My fascination with photography began with my very first camera — a simple Kodak Brownie. From that moment on, I was hooked. Much of my childhood was spent taking photos whenever I had the chance, learning by curiosity long before I understood technique.
In high school I was fortunate to attend a school with an exceptional photography program, where I learned to shoot and develop black-and-white film. I loved the process so much that I converted my mother’s laundry room into a makeshift darkroom — an arrangement I appreciated far more than she probably did. Around that same time, I worked behind the photo counter at a local store, where I gained hands-on knowledge about cameras and equipment that shaped my technical foundation.
During college photography took a back seat, and even after moving to Virginia I only practiced occasionally. It wasn’t until I arrived in Borrego Springs that everything changed. The landscape, light, and quiet rhythm of the desert reignited my passion and brought me back to the camera with purpose.
Today I balance my profession with my passion, spending as much time as possible out in the field. For me, photography is more than creating images — it’s the experience of seeing, learning, and sharing moments with friends, both old and new, who appreciate the outdoors as much as I do. Looking at the world through a camera continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
